Food and Coat Drive

Every year during the holidays, the Whalers pursue a community outreach initiative.  This year, we will be collecting donations of food and adult coats in support of Margaret's House from December 12th to 14th in front of Pad C at the RBC Cente. Collection times are as follows:
Friday, December 12, 5pm-8pm
Saturday, December 13, 8am-4pm
Sunday, December 14, 8am-12pm

We are also looking for volunteers! If you would like to volunteer to sit at the collection table, please contact the Sponsorships and Initiatives Coordinator, Sarah Chiasson, acommunitycoordinator@whalers.org.

Although any donation is welcome, items that are currently being prioritized by Margaret's House can be found here: Margaret's House Priorities

Thank you for your help in making this a successful initiative!

Communications Update

We have had to do some troubleshooting since we’ve transitioned to exclusively using GrayJay for communications, registration, and evaluation.  Overall, the roll-out has been positive, but we are noticing a few common issues.  Here are some tips for our registrants, if you, one of your family members or fellow a Whaler are experiencing difficulty with GrayJay:

Unsubscribed – a very common reason for registrants to cease to receive emails and notifications is because they’ve ‘unsubscribed’ to GrayJay communications.  If you have done this, or suspect that may be the reason, please email communications@whalers.org and state that you give your consent to have your access reactivated.

Junk Mail – intermittently, GrayJay communications have been unwantedly filtered into registrants’ Junk Mail folders.  Please add no-reply@grayjaysolutions.com (sender will be Dartmouth Whalers Minor Hockey Association) to your Contacts and Safe Sender lists to ensure that future messages are delivered to your Inbox.

Other ways to obtain schedules and updates:

Whalers Website – all Conditioning and Tryout groups are added to the Evaluations section of the whalers.org website, which also populates into the GrayJay Teams app, if you’ve downloaded it.

GrayJay Teams app – if you haven’t already done so, please download the app at your earliest convenience.  This will be the app that all Whalers teams will be using for the season.  Ensure that you have Notifications enabled so you will receive roster and scheduling updates as they are added to the app.

Social Media – There will be an increased effort to include scheduling updates through the Whalers Facebook (Dartmouth Whalers Minor Hockey Association) and Instagram (dartmouth_whalers_hockey) feeds while our registrants get used to using the GrayJay platform.

Any questions about Communications can be sent to communications@whalers.org.

Gratitude for our Retired Registrar

Thank You, Beth!

As many of you know, Beth MacMullin retired this season after 10 years of volunteering with the Whalers. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Beth for her incredible dedication to the Whalers over the past decade. Since joining the Board in 2015 as Registrar, Beth has been an essential part of our team, always stepping up to help whenever there was a need.

Aside from her Registrar role, Beth also led our Communications for three years and her commitment didn’t stop there! She generously stepped in to fill in as Treasurer when needed, AND played a key role in the Tryout Process each and every year.

On top of her board roles, Beth also managed her son Duncan's teams from 2015 to 2022, providing incredible support to players, parents, and coaches alike. Her passion, reliability, and hard work have touched every corner of our organization.

Beth, thank you for everything you’ve given over the years. Your leadership, flexibility, and countless hours of volunteer service have made a meaningful difference, and we are so grateful to have had you as part of our team.

With heartfelt appreciation,

The Whalers

Mission and Vision Statements

Our Mission

To foster a lifelong love of hockey by providing a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where youth can develop their skills, confidence, and character—on and off the ice.

What This Means:

  • Lifelong passion: We’re building a love for the game that lasts a lifetime—not just a season.
  • Fun, safe, inclusive: Every child and family should feel welcome and supported in our programs.
  • Skills, confidence, character: Hockey is the vehicle—we’re here to help young people grow in every way.
  • On and off the ice: What they learn here should serve them well in school, in life, and in the community.

Our Vision

To be a leading minor hockey organization known for developing great players, even better people, and championing a positive, inclusive hockey culture that strengthens our community.

What This Means:

  • Great players, better people: We want our athletes to excel in hockey—and in life.
  • Culture matters: Positivity, respect, and belonging are at the heart of everything we do.
  • Community impact: We’re proud to be a strong, unifying presence in Dartmouth and the surrounding area.

Why This Matters:

These statements reflect who we are and where we’re going. They will guide:

  • How we coach and support our players
  • The programs and initiatives we prioritize
  • How we build a culture of respect and belonging at every level

Thank you for being part of the Whalers family. Together, we’re building more than hockey players—we’re building community.
