AGM and 2024/2025 Board Nominations

The Dartmouth Whalers Minor Hockey Association (DWMHA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Sunday June 9, 2024 at 6pm. Meeting will take place in the multi-purpose room at the RBC Centre, 259 Commodore Drive, Dartmouth. Agenda details will be released closer to the meeting date.
 
2024 is an election for the following positions:
(1) Secretary 
(2) Treasurer
(3) Director of Communications
(4) Director of Risk Management and Discipline
(5) Director of Competitive Hockey
(6) Director of U7 & U9
 
If you are interested in one of the above positions, please submit a nomination form. Important: All nominations for Board candidates must be in 21 days prior to the AGM. All interested candidates have until SUNDAY MAY 19, 2024 at 6pm to send your completed nomination forms to nominations@whalers.org14 days prior to the AGM, a qualified list will be presented to the membership.

If you would like to see any bylaw changes, this must be done 21 days prior to the AGM. Please email secretary@whalers.org if you have any amendments.

Spring Development Registration is Now Open

**PLEASE NOTE in order to register for Spring Development you must have been registered with Dartmouth Whalers Minor Hockey during the entire 2023-2024 season. Registration will be verified by the registrar before any player is allowed on the ice.

 

Location: RBC Centre

Sessions: 6 dynamic skills development sessions (skating, skills, compete); 2 - 3v3 mini tournaments within each age group

Dates: April 3 to 25, 2024

  

Age Groups: 

U9  2015 & 2016

U11 2013 & 2014

U13 2011 & 2012

U15 2009 & 2010 (U15 group will be non-contact)

 

Numbers: 20 skaters and 4 goalies per group

 

Cost: $225 for skaters, $175 for goalies

Plan: 6 dynamic skills development sessions (skating, skills, compete), 2 - 3v3 mini tournaments within each age group

**Goalies will receive goalie-specific training

 

Please register at the below, you will receive a copy of your registration submitted. Registration confirmation and payment instructions will be sent in a second email once we have confirmed we still have spots open.

 

Payment MUST be made in full before your player can go on the ice. Payment can be made by credit card (via online Square website), or etransfer. Once registered, a confirmation email will be sent to you with payment instructions for the above methods.

Checking Clinic Registration

Hockey NS Certified Spring Checking Clinic

Date: April 1st

Location: RBC Arena

 

Registration: April 1st @ 9:45 AM

April 1st 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM 

April 1st 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM

 

Cost: $ 100 per player

Please note there will be a limited number of spots for this session so we expect to fill up quickly.

Requirement:

  • Players must be born 2011 or earlier to participate.
  • All players who are intending to try out for a NS U15 Major team in the spring or wish to try-out/play checking in the 2024-25 season MUST attend.
  • All protective equipment must be worn during the session.
  • Checking clinics are required to try-out for U15 AA, A, U18 AA, A. If a player opts to not tryout for these teams i.e. wish to play U15 B, then they do not have to attend the checking clinic.
  • Goalies DO NOT attend the checking clinic.
  • If player has already completed a prior Hockey NS certified checking clinic already, they do not need to take it again but are more than welcome to take it again as a refresher.
  • Please click on the below link to register, once registered a confirmation email will be send and all payment links and instructions will be included.
  • A certificate will not provided; players names, DOB's and HCR #'s will be sent to Hockey NS and their profile will be marked as complete this once sessions are done.

Spring Development & Checking Clinic Update

Spring Development Sessions

 

We are very excited to announce our spring Development Hockey sessions which will run from April 3rd to 25th at RBC Center, times and exact dates to be finalized shortly. The sessions will be lead by Jonah Leroux with Elevation Elite Hockey.

 

Age Groups: 

U9  Birth Years 2015 & 2016

U11 Birth Years 2013 & 2014

U13 Birth Years 2011 & 2012

U15 Birth Years 2009 & 2010

Maximum of 20 Skaters & 4 Goalies per age group

 

Cost: $225 for skaters, $175 for goalies

SEDMHA Timekeepers - Opportunity to be added to Waitlist

The response was overwhelming to the request sent out for timekeepers for the U9 SEDMHA Jamboree and all spots have been filled. We are still weeks away and schedules may change for those that have already signed up so we would like to have a list for those still interested in being a timekeeper in case spots open up.

Please use the link below if you are interested in being added to our wait list for any spots that open up during the event.

The Jamboree will run from March 28th to 31st.
