NEW TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS ANNOUNCED BY PROVINCE FOR CHILDREN AGE 11 AND YOUNGER

Please see below email from Hockey NS regarding new travel restrictions announced today by the NS Government for players age 11 and younger

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good afternoon everyone,
Earlier today, the province announced that effective immediately, there are new restrictions on out-of-province travel for children age 11 and younger for the purpose of participating in sports, arts, culture events.
Children age 11 and younger are also restricted from entering Nova Scotia for these activities.
Individuals, businesses and organizations in Nova Scotia cannot host sports games, competitions and tournaments that include children 11 and younger from outside the province as participants. They also cannot participate in these types of events outside Nova Scotia.
These restrictions will remain in place until at least early January and will be re-evaluated then.
Children can continue to travel to attend these types of events as spectators. They can continue to travel for regular practices, lessons and rehearsals, which is lower risk because they are interacting with the same group all the time.
All other travel restrictions remain in place. They are detailed here.
These measures are in place to ensure that we can continue to keep playing. Thank you all for your hard work and continued support.
Sincerely,
Amy Walsh
HRM Notification regarding RBC Rink A ice removal
Good Afternoon
Just a quick note to inform everyone that we have received notification that we will be losing Rink A at the RBC center as of November 28th. We have just received the below notification this morning and we will be working hard with HRM, Nustadia/ RBC Centre, our executives and other rinks to see if there is a possibility to relocate teams to help us absorb all of our ice times.
Please know we are aware andwe are being diligent in figuring it all out.  As for now, plan to have your teams on the ice for their regular times up to and including Sunday November 28th, 2021.
We will have more discussions this coming weekend and once we know more, we will send out an update.
Thank you for your patience.
Excerpt from HRM Parks & Recreation November 26th Email
Due to the emergency need to address homelessness in HRM, Regional Council authorized the CAO to implement a range of emergency shelter accommodations. Persons have been housed at the Gray arena on an emergency basis since mid-September resulting in all dry floor bookings, including lacrosse and ball hockey being cancelled.  The municipality is procuring modular units to provide accommodations for those individuals currently being housed in the Gray. Unexpected delays pushed out the expected date to have these modular units ready beyond the initially anticipated date.
To accommodate a winter season for lacrosse and other dry floor sports, and with the continued use of the Gray arena as an emergency shelter, the municipality is removing one pad of ice (Pad A) from the RBC 4-pad effective midnight November 28th. Dry-floor rentals will commence December 6th. There are 26 ice pads in the municipality. The Gray arena is typically the only year-round dry-floor arena in Halifax. To ensure as complete a season for lacrosse as possible and to reduce potential for further disruption, bookings will be rescheduled through to the end of the winter season (March 31, 2022).
Recognizing this will have an impact across all arenas and user groups we ask for patience and understanding from everyone as staff adjust bookings. We will aim to relocate and reschedule as many bookings as possible, with a priority on youth bookings however some ice bookings may not be able to be rescheduled and will be cancelled.
Dartmouth Whalers Jr Coach Program
Dartmouth Whalers Minor Hockey Association is very excited to kick off our Jr Whalers Coach Program.  This program is open to Current and Past Whaler Players that are U15 age and older.
This group will support Dartmouth Whalers Teams this season and into the future.  We welcome both skaters and goalies.  We have a big need for Jr Coaches to work with U7 and U9 levels as well as our C level teams.  Goalies are also something we require to help our young goalies at U9 and U11 level to develop.
Junior Coach Orientation Session
The following session is MANDATORY TO  ATTEND, all participants must take part
Date: Wednesday November 24
Time 7:30 to 9:00PM
Location RBC Multi purpose room
The intended outcome of this mandatory session is for the participants in the program to have a better understanding the role they will play with our teams and assigning the participants to the schedule
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our development director Peter Dulhanty at developdirector@whalers.org
