Kindness and Respect Reminder

Hello Whalers Community,

There have been so many emails and communications in the past few weeks, however as we head into tryouts this weekend we feel that this one is of utmost importance:

“No tryout results should be viewed as a bad tryout”

Our children are brave, just by putting themselves out there. No matter where your child lands, they will develop throughout the season. Parents control the narrative during tryouts and throughout the season. The reactions and actions of parents upon receiving tryout results will directly affect the way the player feels about the efforts of their hard work. Your words have impact.

Evaluations are made with the best of intentions and we want all players to thrive on the team where they land. We pride ourselves on the efforts made to ‘do the right thing and make the tough decisions’.

Every player selected has worked hard to earn the spot they are selected for and no child should be subjected to hearing otherwise.

A negative attitude and speaking ill of other players or the volunteers should not be tolerated by the board, volunteers or our membership. We are a single community, working together for the benefit of our children’s development in a sport we all enjoy.

Let's bring our best selves forward and support all members of our Whalers community during tryouts, and throughout the season!
