UPDATE from Hockey NS on Provincial announcement last week

Please see below email that was sent out from Hockey Nova Scotia earlier today.

We ask that all players still register before this week's cut off, if you are unsure if the province's new policy announced last week may affect your player being able to participate this season. please still register but select etransfer for now and hold off paying till more info is released.

We can very easily remove/ cancel a players registration for hockey or for tryouts after September 16th, BUT WE WILL NOT BE ADDING players to tryouts after September 16th and registration cost goes up after the 16th and you will be charged the late fee of $50 additional cost.   NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE

Stay tuned for more updates....

 Good morning everyone,

We want to provide an update regarding the province’s proof of full vaccination announcement last week. Over the weekend, we received the following communication from Sport Nova Scotia:

FROM SPORT NOVA SCOTIA: We wanted to provide a quick update about last week’s announcement concerning COVID-19 immunization for sport activities. We have received word from the province indicating that there will be further review about participant vaccine requirements in sport. We expect to hear back early next week with a final decision about the logistical details (including potential age requirements) that go along with the vaccine policies. We will update you as soon as we have more information.

Hockey Nova Scotia will continue to work with the province and Sport Nova Scotia to determine what these vaccine requirements will look like for our membership this season.

We will communicate this information to you as soon as we have it.

DWMHA believes in investing in their coaches and volunteers

Volunteers are the lifeblood of any successful minor hockey association and the DWMHA board recently passed a unanimous motion to cover the cost of a criminal record check through a new partnership with backcheck.net   This decision was made to reduce the cost, turnaround time, administrative burden, and to make the entire process much easier for our coaches and volunteers for the 2021-2022 season and beyond.

If your criminal records check has to be renewed this season (CRC are valid for 3 years and show on your HC Profile) go to http://www.backcheck.net/hockeynovascotia/

PLEASE NOTE - The DWMHA decision covers record checks on a go forward basis. The DWMHA will not be reimbursing for any previous record checks obtained, nor will the DWMHA be reimbursing for checks done at any of the local law enforcement agencies.  The DWMHA’s goal is for this benefit to be permanent thus, over time, most coaches will be able to access this benefit.

How do I check to see if my CRC is expired

If you have not already done so, you will need to create a new Login for HCR 3.0 as all past logins no longer work in the new system.  To set up a new login profile and link your HCR profile click on the below step by step how to

HCR 3-0 Guide - Setting Up Your Account (click here)

Once your login profile is set up and your HCR profile is linked, you must be in your HCR profile to see your qualifications

Once you login, in the menu on the left side choose Members.  You will see at the top of the screen circles with Initials, these are the members linked to your account.  The first one is your Login profile, this will not have anything attached to it under Qualifications, this is just for you to login.  The second one with the name in all Caps is the HCR profile that has all your past courses, clinics and CRC's attached.  Go to Qualifications, and scroll down to view them all.  Starting 2021-2022 Season, all updated CRC's will show under the CRC tab, past ones show under Qualifications.

If you are on your mobile device, scroll down to where you see the tabs, general, Schedule, swipe your finger to the left to move the screen over till you see Qualification and then click on it and scroll down

See below for example

PSO Update: September 8, 2021 from Today's Press conference

Please see below message sent out by Hockey Nova Scotia sent out late this afternoon, September 8th, 2021

Good afternoon everyone,

Please find below an update from Sport Nova Scotia regarding today’s proof of full vaccination announcement.

We will work with the province, Sport Nova Scotia, our board of directors, and the Rebound Steering Committee (including our Chief Medical Officer) to determine what today’s update will mean for hockey. We will communicate this information to you as soon as we have it.

In the meantime, we would like to remind you that we remain in Phase 4 of the province’s reopening plan. To learn more about Phase 4, please click here.

We all need to do our part to ensure we get to Phase 5. As part of this effort, we encourage everyone who is eligible to be vaccinated to do so.

Thank you all for your hard work and continued support.

PSO Update: September 8, 2021

Today the province announced that Nova Scotia will move into Phase 5 of its reopening plan at 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 15. At this time, the only restrictions that will remain in place for the general population are those related to management of COVID-19 cases. Border measures will remain in place, and the province will also start requiring proof of full vaccination for non-essential, discretionary, recreation and leisure services and activities on Oct. 4.

It was also announced that as of Oct. 4, proof of full vaccination will be required for Nova Scotians who are 12 or older to participate in discretionary, recreational or non-essential activities such as dining out, going to a fitness facility, or going to a movie, theatre performance, concert or sporting event. Vaccine requirements include participants and attendees at sporting activities including practices, training, tournaments etc.

The proof of vaccination requirement does not apply to children 11 years of age and under because they are not eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Children age 11 and under who attend these activities with a fully vaccinated adult will be allowed to participate.

We understand that you will likely have some questions, and we will communicate with you in as much detail as possible as more information becomes available to us.

Volunteers needed for Conditioning Sessoins

Although it's hard to believe the summer is almost over, it's even harder to believe that conditioning sessions less than two weeks away from starting. In order to make the season as successful as possible it takes a lot of help from our members and we are reaching out to you all looking for volunteers for the following:

Volunteers to supervise in the dressing rooms for the Hockey Canada 2 deep policy the hour before your player goes on the ice and when players are getting changed after they get off the ice - Must have valid CAR and CRC on file with Hockey Canada

- Volunteers for player check in and confirming pre-screening form has been completed for both players and spectators

If you can volunteer for one session or for them all we would love for you to take a moment to sign up by completing the below form to let us know what you are able to help with. Our division coordinators will be in touch with you closer to the dates once groups are posted to confirm if and when you are able to help.

Thank you
