Annual General Meeting - June 22, 2010

The Dartmouth Whalers Minor Hockey Association Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 7:00 pm in the Thistle Room at the Dartmouth Sportsplex.

 

The nominating committee recommends the following candidates for the noted elected positions below for the 2010-2011 season:

 

President - Greg Taylor

Executive VP - Shawn McCormick

Treasurer - Mark Sebestik

Novice VP - Patty Gouthro

Atom VP - Chris Guildford

Peewee VP - Sean McKenna

Bantam VP - Chester Keeping

Midget VP - Brian Meahan

Female VP - open

 

Notice of Meeting

The Whalers Annual General Meeting will be held each year in June at a time and place to be determined by the President. A minimum of three weeks notice must be given by the Secretary. Notice shall be given by email message sent to all registered members and by posting notice of the annual general meeting on the Whalers website at www.whalers.org. Written notice of the annual general meeting will be sent by regular mail to any members who have not provided the Whalers with an email address.

 

Membership

The following are members of the Whalers and have a vote at the annual general meeting (no proxy voting):    

  • Parents and guardians of registered players whose annual fees are paid in full
  • All registered coaches, managers, and other team official
  • All on-ice officials
  • People whose offer to serve in any capacity from one registration period to the next has been accepted by the directors
  • Registered members of Shearwater Shannon Minor Hockey Association.

Election of Directors

The following are the directors of the Whalers, elected at the annual general meeting:  President, Executive Vice President, Divisional Vice Presidents, Vice President Female Hockey, and Treasurer. The nominating committee’s report recommending candidates for each of these positions will be posted on the Whalers website 21 days before the annual general meeting.

 

The membership may nominate individuals who are members in good standing for a director position by providing notice (which sets out the name of the person and the position for which they are nominated) to the Secretary not less than 15 days prior to the annual general meeting.  The nomination must be signed by at least five (5) members and must be signed by the nominee indicating that he or she is willing to accept the position if elected. To be eligible as a candidate for President or Executive Vice President, a nominee must be an existing director or have previously served as a director of the Association.

 

A list of all duly nominated candidates and notice of election shall be communicated to the membership not less than ten (10) days prior to the annual general meeting.
