Dartmouth Whalers play with the DU Selects from Lewiston, Maine

Six Dartmouth Whalers Peewee players played in the Credit Union Classic this past weekend as DU Selects for the tournament:

Reid Beck
Devon Dewolfe
Jacob MacDonald
Zakk McKenna
Alex Nottegar
Michael Smith

The DU Selects are from Lewiston, Maine and part of the Atlantic Hockey Group's AAA Series.

During the first game, which took place during the memorial of former Whalers coach, Craig Blake, the DU Selects observed a moment of silence prior to the start of the game.  In addition, the DU Selects wore arm bands for the first game to honor Craig Blake as the players, some of the Dartmouth coaches and parents involved were not able to attend the service.  The DU Selects were very obliging to recognize this special Whalers coach and we thank them.

While the team did not make the medal round (placed 5th overall out of 12 for the tournament), they went into the consolation game on Sunday undefeated.  Unfortunately, they lost the consolation game in a hard fought effort by one goal.  Zakk McKenna was named game MVP in Game 4 and Jacob MacDonald took it in Game 5.  All Dartmouth Whalers players performed well and enjoyed playing at this level.

Congratulations Whalers for a solid effort in this very rewarding experience.  Sincerest condolences from all the DU Selects and their families to the Blake family.
